Surprise! I’m alive! Back from my second adventure of the month!
Most people know, but in case some don’t.. I WENT BACK TO AMERICA!!… Again..
But this time I was home!! Well Chicago home for like a day, but Minnesota home for a weekend! And if anyone was wondering, YES, I FINALLY GOT MY CHIPOTLE! ??? For the most part I ate everything I wanted to eat. But I didn’t get a chance to see everyone I wanted to see ?. Oh well, I’ll be home sooner than you know it. I’ve been asked if I’m homesick and I was leading up to this trip but now that I’ve gone and come back, I’m feeling good. This trip kind of snapped me back into reality. All of a sudden, I know what I want and I know what I need to do, and knowing that has made me feel so relieved! Yes, I do miss home, but I’m okay with being back in Japan too.
I came back to Japan in a middle of craziness! Both of my schools are having influenza (A and B) outbreaks. So far, I’ve had a class from each school get cancelled. In Japan, if enough students are missing from a class, they just send the other kids in that class home for the next 2 days. I think for both classes I had almost, if not, half the class out from influenza. So for now, it’s masks on, eating in your desk rows, and I can’t play certain games during English class. It could be worse though. My schools could be dealing with the norovirus and influenza… Yep that’s a thing going around here too.. Yikes.
Since I’ve been back, I’ve already been out and about! Some people I know had a layover in Tokyo for the day so I met with them and we explored all over! We went to Tsukiji fish market and watched fishermen filet a freshly caught tuna, tried some tea, and ate the freshest fish I’ve ever had. It puts sushi in Mito to shame and that’s some pretty dang fresh stuff we have. We also went to the Imperial Gardens where we saw trees blooming! That’s right people, winter is coming to an end here (I think). I’m not sure what trees were blooming but there were definitely flowers on the trees.
I can’t believe spring is coming! Trees are changing, the days are getting longer, and sometimes, we have warmer days (nothing below 46 this week). Do you ever just think about how things are and just go “wow, this is my life”? It only took me 10 months but I finally had that moment today. I was just sitting at my desk eves dropping on a phone conversation (yeah right..), and was kind of amazed that my life right now is in another country. Seriously, who would have thought I would have packed up and moved Japan?? I never thought I would do that in a million years.. No offense to Japan. Life is full of surprises; I tell ya!
Well, the weekend is quickly approaching and I’m off on another adventure!! I’m going up north to Sapporo (Hokkaido prefecture) for a winter snow festival. I’ll finally see snow this winter!
