farewell, 2o19

Wow, I can’t believe 2019 is over! It flew by so fast but at the same time, so much has changed this year, it feels like January 2019 was a lifetime ago.

This time last year, I was living in Japan. Actually, I was in Taiwan celebrating New Year’s but you get my point. In the past year, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone. I travelled around the world; majority of them on my own! I met really great people, made some amazing friends, packed up and left my comfortable life in Japan for a life of unknown back in Chicago.

Since moving home last April/May, I saw 4 friends get married, travelled to California, South Dakota, Minnesota, and I went back to Japan for a couple of weeks over the summer! I’ve gone back to school to retake my prerequisites to get into occupational therapy school. I work part time, and volunteer as an English teacher and as a high school gymnastics coach. Life is very different for me now, but I don’t regret moving home. I know this is the path I need to be on to get where I need to be.

There are times I miss being in Japan. I miss how easy life was (literally, everything was so easy), how safe it was over there, and most importantly, my friends whom I consider my family over seas. I miss having the time to travel to different countries and having the money to do so. But also, flying in America is expensive… Why is it so expensive?!

With the close of 2019, it’s time to look to 2020. While I won’t be traveling as much as I’d like to be, I have plans in the works for 2020. I still plan on keeping up with this blog whenever I decide to go somewhere. I also realized I never finished my solo trip story to Thailand, Bali, and Australia.. I guess I’ll have to finish Australia 😅. Personally, I think Australia was the best part of my trip.. I guess you’ll have to wait to find out why!

Happy New Year Everyone! Let’s make 2020 even better!
