Hello world!
Where has the time gone? I can’t believe it’s already October!! I’ve officially been living in Japan for 6 months! ONLY 6 MONTHS! I’m excited to announce that I have officially decided to stay for another year. Sooo sorry my American friends but looks like you won’t be seeing me for a long time.
A lot has happened since my last post! I don’t even know where to begin!
I guess for starters I could mention Guam. What. A. Trip. Guam with Mom!I highly encourage anyone and everyone to go to Guam at some point in their life. It’s so beautiful and the people are so friendly. Even for going in August, it wasn’t super hot or super humid! I’m sad I only spent a weekend there but it was a weekend well spent! The sun was shining everyday (except for the last day when there was a typhoon hitting Japan), the water the the clearest and bluest I’ve ever seen, and the food was amazing! Me talking about Guam and posting pictures still doesn’t do the Island justice. In the morning my mom and I would lounge on the beach (mom under a tree in the shade of course) and then around 10:30 we’d get our day started. Usually doing sight seeing. One day we went shopping and another day we rented a car and drove around the south part of the island. Shopping was typical. You had an option of taking a shuttle to the area of designer galore (am I glad I went with my mom…. ;)) Or, you could drive to the outlet mall.
After Guam, my Mom and I flew back to Japan and she spent a week with me in Mito! There, she got to meet my friends, boyfriend, teachers, and check out my awesome apartment. AND! She got to spend her birthday in Japan! I think she enjoyed herself… She didn’t say otherwise so I guess that’s a good sign right?
After Mom left, we had opening ceremony at school. Which is like an assembly with a speech and then the students go home, but the teachers stay and work… because we’re adults… right? This semester is a lot easier than the first one. The beginning was still stressful since I had taken a month off from seeing my students. But I think I’m back in a groove. I’m happy I got to spend the month not teaching spending time getting to know my teachers. I even taught some English! It was great! Whatever I taught in English I learned the Japanese. I’m still really enjoying my time here and the time I spend with my students and teachers. My language ability is still really low but I’m learning! There are times where I still say things in German but it’s becoming less frequent which I guess is good.
There is so much more to write about but they all deserve their own post. More to come shortly! 🙂
